Leaving Scotland

We started heading south early on knowing we had to be back in time for birthday celebrations. We stopped in Kendal for brunch and a look at Levens Hall, which the family still lived in. I did wonder after the doors were shut did they open the drawer get their glasses & book out & jump into bed.

We called into Low Sizergh Barn for a coffee stop before beating the worst of the traffic to be greeted with flapjacks & cupcakes.

Before heading into Worcester for an amazing Italian with everyone.

Bessie was glad to see I had returned and eagerly waited for a walk, paw on my foot.

Picked up a few extras on our walk, the calves thought they should come & followed beside until they reached the fence.

It’s Pronounced Coo Not Cow

Today we jumped in the car & headed off to see what we can see despite the mizzly weather (not sure if it’s a word but it’s how I feel the weather was). First we took a small walk to see an aqueduct which was 4 giraffes high, pretty impressive.

Here I got to see a few highland cows but they weren’t playing the I want a photo game.

We drove to the Kelpies, they were amazing, words cannot describe how you feel when you first see them, they are majestic.

We dragged our tired bodies up & down to get to Castle Campbell, it’s a bit of a ruin but you can still climb the stairs to the top of the tower and the view was totally worth it.

Exhausted in Edinburgh

Exhausted after spending the day in Edinburgh, only some 23,457 steps (17.3km) were taken, no wonder my feet ache tonight.

So we explored the Royal Mile, stood outside Holyrood House, stepped inside The People’s Story and clambered to the Castle.

We also took a turn aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia and when on the royal yacht you must stop for coffee cause when else is one going to have a coffee on a royal yacht.

Still Didn’t Get Invited In For Coffee

Hit the ground running when I got back from London first up was the point to point at Chaddesley on Saturday. Ali made sure we had a little picnic & off we drove just down the road for an afternoon at the races.

large_IMG_0250.jpeg

large_IMG_0254.jpeg

Sunday we jumped in the car for a picnic table lunch over Hereford way, such a beautiful drive, even stopped for a milkshake from a milk vending machine & snacks at another (think I’ll stick to Morrison prawn cocktail crisps, obviously not posh enough for the posh ones).

large_IMG_0271.jpeg

We just happened to be near Hampton Court Castle (no connection to the palace & its older apparently) so we took the tour, apparently some billionaire brought it in the 90s so it’s furnished how he thought it would be.

large_IMG_0278.jpeg

large_IMG_0282.jpeg

Ali & I waving from behind the waterfall, we then followed the tunnel & came out in the gothic tower, worse thing was we then had to go through the maze & my experience of mazes didn’t help

large_IMG_0306.jpeg

large_IMG_0297.jpeg

Tuesday was Heathers birthday & we were treated to a garden tour at the Kings Highgrove estate, unfortunately no photos allowed in the garden but it was a beautiful space. Unfortunately no coffee invites either so I settled for lunch on the estate instead.
