Delightful Devon

We arrived at Purshall Hall (England) yesterday, Fudge (the dog) is glad to have me back.

So this morning the five of us (Heather, Barb, Rob, Mum & me) piled into Heathers car & headed towards Devon on a family history tour. First stop was to Bridgewater Cemetery looking for the grave of my great great grandma Evaleen Roach. Unfortunetly the grave yard was very unkept, we looked but couldn't find the grave. We revisited the Uplowman Church to view the graves of the Chave relatives.

We managed to find the right road this time to see the home of my great grandma Beta Roach, Sellake. We were extremely lucky the young guy whose family live there & are restoring it showed us around, inside & out. An amazing place you can imagine how it looked in the past.

Of course we just happened to be going past Bickleigh at lunch time so of course we had to stop in for cream tea.

Next stop on our tour was Blackawton church, where we found some graves of the Came relatives amongst the sheep keeping the grass down.

We drove through Streete in search of the house of Richard Came.

And then the sea came into view!!! So we just had to pull in to Blackpool Sands, I was brave enough for a quick paddle it was cold but nice. Unfortunetly what I thought at first view was sand turned out to be pebbles, a little hard to cross but feel I got a good workout & worked off lunch.

We rounded out our day with fish & chips by the seaside in Dartmouth.
